How Often Should You PMS Your Motorcycle?
Preventive maintenance keeps small problems from turning into big repair bills. Here is how to tell when your bike is due, and what a proper PMS should cover.

Preventive maintenance service, or PMS, is the routine care that keeps your motorcycle safe and reliable between repairs. Skip it for too long and small issues, like old oil or a worn belt, slowly turn into expensive ones.
Start with your owner’s manual
Every bike is different, so the most accurate schedule is the one in your owner’s manual. It lists service intervals by mileage and by time, whichever comes first. If you have lost the manual, the manufacturer’s website or your last service record is the next best reference.
Ride hard? Service sooner
Daily commuting in traffic, short trips, dusty roads, carrying a backride and riding through the rainy season all put extra stress on oil, filters and moving parts. If that sounds like your riding week, do not stretch your intervals. Bring the bike in on the early side of the schedule.
Signs your bike is due now
- The engine sounds rougher or louder than usual
- Slower pick-up or shaking when you pull away (common on scooters with a dirty CVT)
- Brakes feel soft or squeal
- A dry, noisy or loose chain on underbones and manual bikes
- It has simply been a long time since your last oil change
What a proper PMS should cover
A PMS is more than an oil change. At MotoNorte, every package includes fully synthetic oil, brake and air filter cleaning and our MotoNorte 10-point check. Scooter packages add CVT cleaning and diagnostic scanning, while underbone packages add chain and sprocket cleaning and clutch cable adjustment.
All-in prices, no surprises
Our PMS packages start at ₱1,899 all-in for 110cc to 160cc automatic scooters, with packages for underbones, manual bikes, the Yamaha XMAX, Honda ADV350 and Vespa. We explain what we find and the price before any work starts.
Not sure which package fits your bike? Walk in any day from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM at the back of Addessa, Washington St., Batac City, or call us at 0952 458 2188.
